Licence administration

Turn on two-step sign-in

Licence keys control who can use the software, so every admin signs in with a password and a code from an authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator…).

  1. In the app choose Add account → Enter a setup key.
  2. Account name: PDF OCR Licences. Key:
  3. Type the 6-digit code the app shows:

Create licence keys

Copy these now – they are shown only once. The server keeps only a scrambled (hashed) copy. Each key works on one computer: it locks to the first PC it is entered on.

Building the desktop installer

The desktop installer needs two values. Give them to BUILD_INSTALLER.bat when it asks:

Licence server address

Public key

The public key only checks licences, so it is safe to share. The matching private key stays on this server (signing_key.pem). Back up the whole data folder; if that key is lost, every installed copy has to be rebuilt and re-activated.

Each computer re-checks its licence about every days. If a key is cancelled or a computer is freed here, that computer stops working at its next check.
